I've been having a shocker with the 365 day photo thingo. I take them but then forget to post them.
But when I get back from Thailand I'll be able to bore you for weeks with photos. I was thinking today that its very inconvenient, how when you're trying to get ready to go overseas, normal life keeps going on and taking up time.
So, some photos.
Here is my friend Jem. We were out celebrating her birthday.
And here she is with her hubby.
Here is my foxxxxy daughter Kimba, the devil, and her good friend, Cleopatra getting ready for Cleopatra's birthday party.
And here I am with Big Ears.
And this is Betty chewing on the hindquarter of a small elephant. Or something.
Oh yes, and these are Lloyds shoes. Because he thought it might be a good idea to buy a pair or white dunlop volleys to wear to all the summer music festivals he goes to. This was after Parklife.
And these were my new nail polishes that you've seen before. And I don't really like either of them. But its ok because I have a newer smokin' rimmel red.
Messing with Charlie because he always looks cranky and dark.
And Betty catching some rays. Because I know I always bitch and moan about how cold it is, and its not really. We have very mild winters. We have about three weeks where the days are about 15 degrees and the rest of the time is quite pleasant. Take today - even though its the middle of winter I can get around in a tshirt and cardigan and not have a heater on.
Anyway, Betty, she can always make a comfortable spot look uncomfortable. She sleeps on this old lounge seat.
But she likes her head to hang off the edge.
Then every now and then she likes to have a wrestle with her sheet. She gets it on top of her and wriggles around under it with her feet up in the air. Sometimes I find her walking around the backyard still in it because she's stuck.
And here she is just being her general attractive self. Sunning the tum.
This is Charlie. He lives two doors down. He finds life quite confronting. And although he's not a cranky boy like he looks he might be, he doesn't like to be looked at and he doesn't like to look at anyone.
He likes to catch the morning sun on the roof of my car. The size is fur not fat. Every summer he has a shave as he gets all knotted up. Never mind how dirty my car is. We have strict water restrictions here so no outdoor hoses at all allowed.
Not looking
Pretending I'm not there
Even when I get right in his face.
Almost
See, he's a beautiful boy.
something like that anyway. Mind you not that I consider myself a dog, young or old. So I was trying out this idea of taking a photo out of bounds. Like this. (There are a stack of tutorials out there).
And it is kind of cool and I can see myself spending hours and hours going through my photos doing it to them all. Because thats what I do. I learn something new and then do it to death.
But I wanted a way to keep more of the actual photo involved in the whole idea. So I used one of papas slides and had another go. And I like this better I think. Even though it is old and grubby and blurry and damn it I stuffed up her foot somehow. Practice practice.
well it's 4 x 4 actually so thats 16. I was tagged. I used to be good at tag, being a fast runner.
Four Jobs I've Had:
Girl Friday - do they still call them that. What did they do for the rest of the week anyway. It was with an accountant and one of my girlish duties was to sit out the back and operate some huge machine that you put numbers in. I don't know what it was called but it seemed pre historic.
Cafe Worker and Sandwich Maker at the submarine base in Sydney. That was good fun.
Secretary for a Psychiatrist. It was in a heroin and alcohol rehabilitation centre, so always some action going on. Clients would come out of jail and get on the methadone programme and live in one of the houses we operated and try to get back on track. Two of her clients were caught in Bangkok smuggling heroin and spent a long time in jail there. She went over for the trial and brought me back a pewter pendant.
Book keeper - that sounds so dull and dreary but it's paid the bills for a while now.
Four Places I've Lived:
Country NSW, where it was hot and red and flat. You could look for miles to the horizon and not see a bump in the ground. It was all sheep and wheat and dust storms.
Country NSW - where it was all green and hilly. We moved when I was 15. When we trucked the cattle in and put them into the paddocks, they looked at those hills and said WTF? - you expect me to walk up that! And they didn't for months. Just milled about at the bottom.
Sydney - then
Country NSW
Four TV SHows I Watch
Life on Mars
CSI - the original
So You Think You Can Dance
Cold Case
Four Places I've Been on Holiday:
Fraser Island
Bali
Daydream Island
Coffs Harbour - sorry couldn't think of anywhere else
Four of my favourite dishes:
Nibbles and finger food. I'd like to live like Cher did in Mermaids and just live on finger food and dips.
Nachos - my homemade ones
Avocado - I know it's not a dish but I like to just eat it with a spoon or smear it on a biscuit
Chicken Schnitzel with pepper gravy and chips. I don't know why that left a gap but schnitzel deserves it's own line.
Four Websites I Visit Daily:
My vox friends and neighbours
madeit - where you can buy australian handmade things. Such as the funky felt badges made by annalaura who tagged me.
My bank site - but I won't give you a link to that.
art quirks - when I first stumbled on to that place I thought I'd never post any of my work there. I thought they were just about the cleverest bunch of people I'd seen. Some great artists there.
So thats it - feel free to tag yourself.
Found this outside the back door - only one though, ususally there's two. It's tiny. Hard to imagine that the teeny little thing that came out of it can survive the nest, the hawk, the magpies and the weather. And the cat when we had him. He had a few. He was like a possessed demon when he knew there were baby doves around. He scaled the garage wall like spiderman once to get to them. No easy task considering he weighed 9 kilos.
Now if I'd been thinking I'd have put a 10 cent piece near it so you could see how timy it is. Doh.
This is Lizzie. Taken a couple of years ago. I wish she'd give up smoking though. (just kidding - we keep that fag in the drawer for photo taking purposes).
Still testing some new techniques in photo messing. She'll probably be cranky when she sees it and say her nose looks too big. But I like the way it turned out.
She was dressing up for me beause at that time she had a P.E. teacher who seemed to despise her and I wanted some pics of her as a P.E. brat. I can't remember now all the things the teacher said to her, but one of them was that she was a waste of space on the netball court. Nice one.
