This was a plane that crashed on our property years ago.
The guy in the coat was the policeman who came to investigate.
This would be when they left on the cruise.
Papa would have made them go and act all interested in the tree. He used to make us kids go out every year and stand in wheat and sorghum crops and touch the stems.
And a festival somewhere.
saw this little guy strolling round the cement out the back. What an interesting little dude. Alien head.
He was definitely keeping an eye on me. Got up on his back legs, ready to attack (or defend). I put him in the garden after he'd finished the photo shoot - otherwise the dog would've eaten him, or trampled him.
I went to the shops today. I went to help my son buy his girlfriend a christmas present. He put together a cheese platter for her, (who says romance is dead). She'll be constipated for about a month I'd say judging by the amount he bought. I was stunned by the amount of people racing around. I mean the shops are shut for one day and everyone acts as if they might starve to death on that day. So just take a moment people to enjoy the season.
Credits here to - me for the photo. I took it at darling harbour one day.
As usual I have no idea where most of these were taken. My grandfather wrote nothing down. All I know is that most of them were taken in the late 1950's and 1960's.
First off we have my mother pointing out some extremely interesting features on this attractive truck
Next are some very cool cars in a car yard - somewhere
Hollywood bowl - 1957
Hmm, not happy jan. Think we've skipped from US to Europe here.
And Volvo - been going strong a long time now
We went to the bank yesterday to see if we could get more money. We're thinking of buying another house to move the kids into. I figure thats the only way we'll get them to leave home. So you get to be in that situation where you sit in a small office and listen to some guy talking about large sums of money and long years into the future. And he draws boxes with arrows coming from them going to smaller boxes. And thats when you usually start thinking about something else, like whats on tv later. And I only almost started laughing once, when I thought to myself, wow I'm actually the responsible adult here. Then when we get outside, Daz and I look at each other and go - what the hell was he talking about!! At the moment I'd rather buy a smaller car. A few years we had to buy an enormous car as our three kids were becoming huge. Thats what teenagers are like these days, they grow like some kind of mutant creatures. But now we rarely all travel together anywhere so I'd like a smaller car. Which reminded me of these cars I found in the slidebox. These are a couple of cars we had when we were kids. I don't remember the first two. Can't believe how thin the tyres are on this one.
But I sure remember this one. Can you imagine Mum and Dad and four kids off on holidays in it. By the time we put the boat on top and the luggage in the boot it must have just about been scraping on the ground.
I found this photo in the slidebox a while ago and no matter how many times I look at it, it never fails to give me a laugh. These are girls who obviously take their recorder playing very seriously. The one on the far right is related to me. And that scares me a little, as do her grey socks. They were sitting on a rock (picnic at hanging rock style) but I found this old movie poster I thought suited them. The photo behind them with the saloon was also one of papa's photos and I think it must be a movie set type place. The one standing almost looks too cheery for the group.
